Klaus Bode

Founding Director

Klaus is the Founding Director with over 35 years of expertise in Environmental and Building Services Engineering Design. Previously he was also a Founding Partner/Director of BDSP Partnership, ChapmanBDSP and Urban Systems Design.

Klaus has nearly two decades’ experience in education, including part-time tutoring at the Architectural Association, the Bartlett (UCL) and University of Cambridge and is a regular international guest lecturer.

Klaus prioritises open collaboration among engineers, architects and other professionals. He places the environmental agenda at the core of each project, striving for a shared vision with clients and the design team. Klaus specialises in crafting environmental design strategies and low-energy engineering solutions, both at building and masterplan scales, emphasising the intersections of engineering, environmental considerations and architectural design, supported by integrating parametric environmental modelling and digital engineering to find clear and effective solutions.

Klaus’s extensive work with renowned architects and international collaborations led him to critically reassess conventional design and explore alternative solutions better suited to context. Furthermore, Klaus’s original deep interest in technology as the solution to problems has evolved into a passion for simplification and subtracting complexity, as a more effective design approach in delivering sustainable design solutions.
